A boat journey gives you the chance to see the uncommon Gangetic dolphins.
Sunderbans National Park, located 500 kilometers southwest of Kolkata in the enormous wetlands of the Ganges delta, is heavily covered in mangrove forests and serves as a haven for a large population of Bengal Tigers. You’ll sail by boat into this distant water realm and spend two nights in a forest cabin to really immerse yourself in the outdoors. Our journey comes to a close in Kolkata, the country’s preeminent intellectual center. You’ll spend a day seeing this intriguing Bengali city, India’s second-largest, with trips to the enigmatic Kali temple, which was erected to honor Goddess Kali, and the lovely Victoria Memorial, which is now a museum dedicated to Queen Victoria’s memory.
